How to choose the front door?
Entrance doors should provide protection against thieves, noise, cold and possible fire. Their quality cannot be underestimated. When choosing, it is necessary to consider not only their appearance and price, but also resistance to damage of all kinds. Here are three criteria for choosing an entrance door.
CRITERIA 1: MATERIAL
The main advantage of plastic entrance doors is the ratio of utility and price. If you don’t like the white surface, change it: there are many decors that imitate various types of wood and other surfaces, including aluminum. Plastic entrance doors do not require special care and will last for decades.
Aluminum front doors are undoubtedly the most durable. Aluminum is highly resistant to surface damage and requires minimal maintenance. Modern aluminum profiles also have very good thermal insulation properties.
Wooden entrance doors are ideal for homeowners who prefer a natural look and energy efficiency. Wood has an ideal finish that protects the door for many years. However, this requires regular care. Wood is also more prone to slight deformations. These partial problems can be minimized by choosing wood and aluminum entry doors.
CRITERIA 2: SAFETY
Although not all thieves enter the house through the main entrance, there is no reason not to take into account the mechanical resistance of the front door. Door stability is not only an obstacle for thieves, but also an important argument for the insurance company with which you arrange home insurance.
CRITERIA 3: APPEARANCE
The overall impression of the front door depends, among other things, on the material chosen. You can significantly affect each of them by choosing decor, paints or varnishes. The range of colors and designs is very wide and will undoubtedly correspond to your plans to combine a door with a facade or windows.
There is no clear answer to the question of whether to choose a glazed front door or a door without glass. Glazed doors will contribute to the natural light of the room or allow you, in the case of glazing with transparent glass, to control the space behind the door. If you do not want to be seen, you can choose opaque glass.
The way of glazing and further designing the door surface is only a matter of taste and combination with other elements of your home.
